- An erect, hairy, perennial herb, up to 10-20 cm tall, common in meadows and moist slopes of temperate and sub-alpine zones.
- Plant Description:
- Stem quadrangular, purplish. Leaves simple, elliptic-ovate to elliptic-lanceolate, usually toothed. Inflorescence a compact, oblong, terminal, cylindrical spike. Flower zygomorphic, violet-purplish. Calyx 2-lipped. Corolla 2-lipped, upper lip hooded. Fruit is a nutlet, smooth, pale brown.

- Medicinal Value:
- It is called self heal and has astringent, antiseptic properties and reduces blood pressure. Aerial parts treat sore throat, bleeding gums, hemorrhoids and heavy menstruation. Flowers are liver and gallbladder stimulant.[5]Locally it is used as a vegetable which tones the organs and provide energy to body.
