A perennial, aromatic herb, common in grassy fields in sub-tropical and temperate zones.
Plant Description:
Stem erect, leafyand branched from base. Leaves simple, entire, ovate-narrow elliptic, dark green. Inflorescence a dense spike, branched. Flower zygomorphic, bracts yellow-green, mauve-white to pale-pink. Calyx 5-toothed. Corolla 2-lipped. Fruit is a nutlet, oblong, longitudinally furrowed, dark or pale brown.
Flowering and Fruiting:
July-October.
Harvesting Time:
August-November.
Medicinal Value:
Useful in asthma and skin diseases. [4] Locally used to cure cough, flu and stomach disorders.
Part Used:
Whole plant.
Occurrence:
Very common.
