Habit & Habitat:
A perennial herb, trailing on ground, with diffuse spreading branches, found in temperate and sub-alpine zones.
Plant Description:
Leaves 5-palmatisect into ovate-rhombic segments. Inflorescence a small cyme,solitary,2-flowered. Flower actinomorphic, showy, 3-4cm broad, purplish-blue to mauve, Sepals elliptic-oblong.Petals with shallow notch. Fruit erect when immature.Mericarps,hairy. Seed oblong.
Flowering and Fruiting:
July-October.
Harvesting Time:
August-November.
Medicinal Value:
Root infusion is used as mouthwash for ulcers and throat infection. Used internally for diarrhea, stomach ulcer, internal bleeding and externally for hemorrhoids.[5] Locally used in back pain, dysentery and cold.

Rhizome.
Occurrence:
Common at high altitudes.

Conservation, Collection, Cultivation, Drying, Packing, Herbal Pharmacy.
