A perennial, rhizomatous herb with pseudostems up to 2-3 m tall, found in sub-tropical zone, also cultivated in local areas.
Plant Description:
Leaves simple, lanceolate, glabrous. Inflorescence drooping panicles. Flower zygomorphic. Bracteoles with pink tip enclosing flower bud. Calyx white. Corolla tubular. Lobes milky white with pink tips. Labellum yellow with purple-red stripes. Fruit a capsule, globose and ribbed. Seed angled.

Medicinal Value:
It has antifungal and antibacterial properties, also used as stimulant, aphrodisiac, carminative and flavouring agent.[1] Rhizome is used to treat bronchitis, measles, gastritis and seed cure digestive problems.[5] Locally powder is used for treatment of asthma, indigestion and impotency.
