- A perennial,spiny, subshrub up to 100 cm tall, found in sub-tropical zone.
- Plant Description:
- Root tuberous.Young branches ash gray to white. Spines straight and woody. Stem modified in to leaf-like structures called cladodes,which are many,filiform, mostly5-20 in number.Inflorescence a raceme,4-8 cm long.Flower actinomorphic, bisexual,white, subsessile.Fruit a berry,dark red, 4-5mm in diameter.

- November-December.
- Medicinal Value:
- Useful in dysentery and diarrhea. Locally it is used in impotency for its aphrodisiac properties and as a general body tonic. A local recipe of boiled tubers has been introduced in area.
