Habit and Habitat:
Perennial herb up to 150-300cm tall found in temperate and sub-alpine zones.
Taxonomic Features:
Stem longitudinally furrowed. Middle and upper cauline leaves usually entire, 10-20cm long. Inflorescence a capitulum, 3-4cm in diameter. Involucral bracts lanceolate. Receptacular bracts spiny,linear. Flower funnel-shaped,creamy-white. Calyx 4-lobed. Fruit an achene, ellipsoid, glabrous.
Flowering and Fruiting:
July-September.
Harvesting Time:
August-October.
Medicinal Value:
Locally decoction and powder of whole plant is used as female sex tonic, also used in sore throat.Root paste is used for treatment of leucoderma, fractured bones and muscles.

Whole plant.
Occurrence:
Uncommon.
Future Perspective:
Conservation, Cultivation, Chemical analysis, Herbal Pharmacy.
