- Habit and Habitat:
- An evergreen small tree up to 10 m tall, found in temperate zone and considered as endangered species in the area.
- Taxonomic Features:
- Leaves simple, elliptic-lanceolate, leathery, dark green above, silvery on underside, 5-15 cm long. Flower in dense terminal clusters, showy, scarlet-red or red. Sepals ovate, 3cm long. Corolla crimson, bell shaped. Fruit a capsule, cylindrical, woolly. Seed numerous, oblong to elliptic.

- March-April.

- April-May.
- Medicinal Value:
- Local communities use it in blood dysentery and as a heart tonic. It has carminative properties, also useful in headache, respiratory disorders and diarrhea.
